XS1 Biosciences

From sequence to function.

XS1 Biosciences builds AI for biological and genetic research: genomic and protein language models, single-cell models and research agents that help scientists reason from a sequence to what it does.

01What we build

Models that read DNA, RNA and protein.

Biology is written in sequences. XS1 Biosciences trains and adapts models that learn from them at each layer, and agents that put those models to work in research.

Illustrative

Reading a gene, codon by codon

Eight codons → MAKWELYS

Illustrative: the DNA codons ATG GCT AAG TGG GAA CTG TAC AGC are transcribed into mRNA and translated into the amino acids Met, Ala, Lys, Trp, Glu, Leu, Tyr, Ser.

Across all threeResearch agents read the literature and run analysis at every layer.

02Research focus

The open questions behind the work.

XS1 Biosciences is a research division first. These are the questions its work keeps returning to.

  1. How far does a sequence model generalize?

Across species, genomes and assays that were not in its training data, and how to tell when it has stopped generalizing.

  2. Do zero-shot predictions track the bench?

How closely variant-effect and fitness scores follow experimental measurements such as deep mutational scans.

  3. Can a model say how sure it is?

Calibrated confidence for predicted structures and effects, so researchers know which predictions to trust and which to test.

  4. How should a research agent show its work?

Every claim tied to a source, every analysis reproducible, every proposal ranked with the evidence behind it.

03Working with us

How work with XS1 Biosciences starts.

XS1 does not sell a packaged product. XS1 Biosciences takes on contracted research and engineering, and research partnerships, with research institutes, university labs and life-science R&D teams.

Contracted research

A defined question, such as adapting a sequence model to your assay data or testing how well models predict your measurements.

Contracted engineering

Training and fine-tuning pipelines, evaluation harnesses and research-agent tooling built around your dry-lab workflow.

Research partnerships

Longer-term collaboration on an open problem in AI for biology.

Every engagement starts the same way

  1. 1

    An initial conversation

You describe the research question in general terms. No data or sequences are needed at this stage.

  2. 2

    Scope and responsible-science review

We agree what the work will and will not do, and review the use case against our responsible-science practice.

  3. 3

    Terms agreed privately

Data handling, access and publication terms are settled before any data changes hands.

  4. 4

    Work in reviewed stages

Results are reviewed with your team at each stage. Your researchers decide what is tested in the lab.

What we do not take on

Work aimed at creating or enhancing biological threats, or any project that does not pass a responsible-science review.
